Update 1Feb2012: A new test game has begun and is now starting and is scheduled to run indefinitely. The nature of new software, of course, means it is subject to unplanned resets if significant problems develop, but it appears to be off to a solid start. Click one of the links below to read more or log in.
Currency Traders is a brand new, free online strategy game that is played with a telnet client. Every modern operating system includes telnet so you don't need anything else to play.
The link above points to the web page which has a brief introduction and a game link. The game is played in a persistent world somewhat resembling the post-TEOTWAWKI United States. You'll start out in post-apocalyptic Los Angeles but will have the option to travel to other cities if you don't like LA.
There are no graphics and no specialized clients required so virtually any Internet-connected computer is sufficient to play. There are no ads and nothing to buy.
[This is a test game of 5 cities, each of which is composed of 8000 city blocks. It is under development but this 40,000-city block game is thought to be a 'small' game. We shall see...]
[Updaate: The test game has been increased to 100,000 blocks and 11 cities.] |
